Your dog’s most powerful and natural drive is to SNIFF and smell things with their nose. Learn how to turn that instinct into fun games that you can play around the house or to pursue the fun competition sports of NoseWork or Barn Hunt. We will use essential oil odors of clove, birch, and anise, along with your dog’s favorite reward (food or toy) to help shape and reinforce your dog’s instinct to ‘hunt’ for the odor and ultimately to ‘tell’ you they have found it with a trained final response. Dogs must be at least 6 months of age, be healthy and free of any injuries, and have had at least one basic obedience class.
This class introduces and moves dogs through the various foundational elements and progressions of agility handling – primarily moving between the obstacles and around a basic course with safety and working as a TEAM. Various equipment including jump and contact obstacles will be introduced at a level that is suitable for all dogs and their specific abilities. This is not a competition class, but instead designed to introduce any dog to the sport of agility in a fun and positive environment. Dogs must be at least 6 months of age, be healthy and free of any injuries, and have had at least one basic obedience class.
This class has various levels focused creating a solid relationship with our dogs through clear communication, setting honest expectations and boundaries, and positive reinforcement. We work on various levels of manners and social skills based on your dog's age and prior training. The goal is to help to ensure that you are your canine companion have a life filled with joy, respect, and acceptable behavior to thrive in a variety of environments.
This class focuses on teaching your dog a variety of fun and engaging tricks that will build your bond with your dog and improve communication while you have fun learning new sills. Dogs must be at least 6 months old and have had at least one basic obedience class.
This class provides an overview of what is required to become a certified therapy dog team. We review and assess all the necessary skills that will be required for testing ,identify areas where teams may need additional work, and recommend a training plan to be successful. We do not conduct the formal testing but provide all the information on how to pursue that when a team is ready. Dogs must be at least 1 year old, non-reactive to other dogs and humans, and have had at least one basic obedience class.
This class focuses on the preparing you and your dog to pass the 10 specific elements of the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test. The goal is to help you and your dog learn the skills for a lifetime of good manners so you can be a welcomed community member when out in public spaces. The CGC is fast becoming the benchmark for basic manners for many other activities, including therapy dog work, and is increasingly recognized by many insurance and rental companies as evidence for good canine manners. Dogs must have had at least one level of basic obedience training and be at least 9 months old. We will conduct an optional CGC Evaluation at the conclusion of the class for the additional fee of $25.
